Inside Every Furnace Tune-Up Visit
Our technicians start with a full combustion check: examining the burner flame's color and shape, testing the flame sensor, and looking closely at the heat exchanger for cracks or corrosion. A damaged heat exchanger can let combustion gases escape into your home, so this step never gets skipped. We also confirm the venting is unobstructed and drafting properly, since a blocked or poorly pitched vent creates both a performance issue and a safety concern.
Next comes the ignition system — whether your furnace uses a standing pilot, hot surface igniter, or intermittent pilot — along with a test of the built-in safety controls designed to shut the unit down if something isn't right, including the limit switch and flame rollout switch. These parts are easy to overlook because a furnace can heat your home just fine while one of its safety switches quietly fails.
From there, we clean the burner assembly, verify gas pressure matches manufacturer specs, examine the blower motor and belt (where applicable), and swap or clean the filter. Static pressure gets measured too, confirming your ductwork isn't forcing the blower to work harder than it should, with every reading checked against the equipment maker's recommended range before we finish up.
